Your itinerary

Land. Breathe. Begin.Day One

Touch down at Blaise Diagne International Airport and step into a city that is immediately, unmistakably alive. Dakar is colour, movement, music, and energy and today, your private guide takes you straight into the heart of it. We begin in the historic Plateau district, Dakar's colonial nerve centre: the railway station, city hall, Independence Square, and the Presidential Palace each one a chapter in the story of a nation that has been shaping Senegal for centuries.

We continue along the small cornice with its breathtaking views overlooking the island of Gorée before visiting the magnificent Mosque of the Divinity and standing before the towering African Renaissance Monument one of the largest statues on earth, and one of the most powerful images of African pride you will ever encounter.

The afternoon is yours to settle in before a private Welcome Dinner that opens this extraordinary journey exactly as it deserves to be opened.

The Island That Changed the WorldDay Two

We cross to Gorée Island by ferry a small, extraordinary island that for five centuries sat at the centre of one of history's darkest chapters. Gorée was the largest slave-trading centre on the African coast, fiercely contested by European powers for generations.

Your private guide walks you through every layer of the island's complex, haunting, and ultimately resilient story. We visit the Slave House built in 1776, the Castel with its panoramic views across the Atlantic, the Church of Saint Charles, and the island's famously colourful, bougainvillea-lined alleys that speak of life continuing defiantly alongside history.

The afternoon brings a beautiful contrast a private sand painting workshop, where Senegalese artists use coloured sand from across the country and baobab sap to create breathtaking portraits. You watch, you participate, and you leave with something extraordinary in your hands. Gorée is an island of memory but also, unmistakably, an island of art.

Safari Morning. Colonial Evening. One Extraordinary Day.Day Three

Today delivers one of the most thrilling contrasts in West African travel. We begin at the Bandia Wildlife Reserve, 2,000 hectares of baobab forest where giraffes, white rhinoceros, oryx, impala, buffaloes, crocodiles, hyenas, and green monkeys roam in complete freedom. Your private park guide navigates the reserve by vehicle, ensuring you see as much as possible while sharing the extraordinary ecological stories behind every animal and landscape.

By afternoon, we leave the savannah behind and head north to Saint-Louis a city widely considered to be the first European settlement in all of West Africa, and one of the most visually striking cities on the continent. Its elegant colonial architecture, island geography, and faded grandeur make it feel like a page torn from another century. Tonight, the city opens its arms and the adventure deepens.

Paddle Through Paradise. Eat Like a Local.Day Four

We rise early for one of the most serene wildlife experiences in West Africa, a private canoe through the Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, and home to approximately 350 bird species. Pelicans, flamingos, African spoonbills, cormorants, and purple herons rise around you as your private guide narrates the extraordinary ecological story of this remarkable wetland. It is peaceful, it is beautiful, and it is completely unlike anything else on this journey.

Back in Saint-Louis, the afternoon brings one of the trip's most intimate and memorable moments a private lunch at a Senegalese family home, where you'll share a steaming bowl of Thiébou Djeun, Senegal's beloved national dish of rice and fish — itself a UNESCO-listed cultural treasure. A meal shared on the floor, with new friends, in a family home: this is travel at its most real.

The afternoon walking tour of Saint-Louis reveals the legendary Faidherbe Bridge, the Cathedral, and the colourful fishermen's district of Guet Ndar where multicoloured canoes crowd the shore and the Atlantic stretches endlessly ahead.

Enter the Spiritual Soul of SenegalDay Five

Today we travel to Touba. Senegal's most sacred city and the spiritual capital of the Mouride Brotherhood, the powerful Sufi Islamic order that shapes the soul of the nation. Built entirely around the Great Mosque of Touba, with its magnificent towering minaret visible from miles around, this is a city unlike any other in West Africa. It is a place of profound faith, extraordinary architecture, and a quiet, purposeful energy that stops you in your tracks.

Your private guide provides the cultural and spiritual context that makes Touba genuinely understandable rather than simply observed, the history of the Mouride movement, the legacy of its founder Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, and the deep significance of this city to millions of Senegalese people across the world.

From Touba, we continue toward Toubacouta a lush river delta lodge destination that will serve as your base for the most thrilling day of the entire journey. Tonight, you rest. Tomorrow, you walk with lions.

Walk With Lions. Glide at Sunset. This Day Has No Equal.Day Six

Clear your schedule, charge your camera, and prepare for the day that will define this entire trip. We head to the Fathala Wildlife Reserve for an experience so extraordinary that most travellers struggle to find words for it afterwards: a private walk with lions. Side by side with these magnificent animals accompanied by expert rangers who know each lion individually, you will experience a closeness to Africa's most iconic predator that photographs alone can never convey.

The morning continues with a private 4x4 safari through Fathala's vast savannah, where Derby elks, warthogs, zebras, antelopes, giraffes, buffaloes, and monkeys move freely across the landscape. After lunch, the experience transforms entirely, a private motorised canoe cruise takes your group through the intricate waterways of the Saloum River Delta, navigating the narrow Bolongs through mangrove forests alive with birdlife.

We meet the Niominka, the charming local fishermen who have inhabited these waters for generations before gliding to a small island to watch the sun descend over the delta in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful sunsets in West Africa. There are days that make a trip. This is the day that makes this trip unforgettable.

Saly — You've Earned Every Second of ThisDay Seven

After six extraordinary days of wildlife, history, culture, and adventure, Senegal offers you one final, perfect gift Saly, the most celebrated seaside resort in West Africa. White sand beaches, warm Atlantic waters, swaying palms, and a gentle breeze that makes every thought of returning home feel very far away.

Today belongs entirely to your group. Sleep in. Swim. Walk the beach at your own pace. Discover the local bars and restaurants along the promenade, browse the craft stalls, or simply lie in the shade of a palm tree and let eight extraordinary days of Senegal settle into your skin. This is the rest you have earned and Saly delivers it beautifully.

Tonight, your final dinner in Senegal carries the weight of everything this journey has given you.

Until Next Time, SenegalDay Eight

The bags are packed heavier now with Gorée sand paintings, savannah dust, the taste of Thiébou Djeun, and the impossible memory of a lion walking beside you through the Fathala Reserve. You came as a group of travellers. You leave as something more, people who have shared something genuinely rare and extraordinary together in one of the world's most captivating countries. Senegal did that.

Your private transfer will deliver you to Blaise Diagne International Airport with the same care and warmth that welcomed you eight days ago. Safe travels. Come back soon. Senegal always has more to show those who are brave enough to go looking for it
